What is Project BHISHMA?

IAFs Aarogya Maitri disaster Cubes : Project Bhishma was announced by PM Narendra Modi at the Global South Summit. Under which India will provide essential medical supplies to any developing country affected by Natural Disaster or Humanitarian Crisis. The initiative was taken by the Ministry of Defence.

Key Features of Aarogya Maitri Disaster Cubes

• It is portable and can be airlifted to War areas, Remote Areas and Disaster prone Areas.
• It is the world’s First portable disaster hospital.
• It includes Mini ICU, Cooking Station, X-Ray Machines, Blood Test kit, Operation Theater, Food, Water Shelter, Power Generator and much more.
• It includes three frames, each accommodating 12 mini cubes.
• The design allows joining two cages- including 72 cubes in total.
• It is a Rapid Disaster Portable Hospital which can give assistance to 200 injured people. 
• It has a tent and is able to handle multiple injuries. 
• All of  the equipment are rechargeable and the kit contains a portable generator, including a Solar panel based generator.
• It can be used in the need of medical support due to epidemics, in high elevations, or in challenging landscapes. 
• It can be airlifted to the disaster area and can be assembled within an hour.
• India will supply necessary Aarogya Maitri Disaster Cubes to developing countries in the times of Natural Disaster and Humanitarian crisis.
• Out of the 72 cubes, 60 will remain the same and 12 will keep changing according to type of disaster.
• It is Waterproof, Corrosion proof and come with instruction manual 
• The precise drop guaranteed that the contents would not be damaged. 
• It integrates Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data analytics to facilitate effective coordination, real-time monitoring, and efficient management of medical services in the field.
• The components can be conveniently carried by hand, cycle, or even drone, providing unmatched flexibility.
• In the event of mass casualty incidents (MCIs), where requirements range from basic aid to advanced medical and surgical care, the Aid Cube stands out with its ability to be deployed within 12 minutes.
• The cubes can handle injuries like bullet wounds, major bleeding, severe burns, head injuries, long limb fractures, spinal injuries, chest injuries and spinal fractures.
• Maitri Disaster Disaster Management Cube BHISHMA units were strategically deployed to enhance medical preparedness and response capabilities. 
• From airdrops to ground transportation, the cube can be rapidly deployed anywhere, ensuring immediate response capability.
